Official opening ceremony at the IntercityHotel Braunschweig
brand’s new interior design launches the next generation of hotels
The official opening ceremony has now been staged at the IntercityHotel Braunschweig, which has been available to take bookings since November. Numerous guests attended the celebrations held on Wednesday evening. This is the first hotel operating under the brand to bear the interior design signature of the Italian architect Matteo Thun, whose concept will serve as a prototype for all forthcoming openings.
The new IntercityHotel Braunschweig can be described as modern, stylish and cosy. It offers 174 rooms, four conference and events spaces, a restaurant, a bistro lounge and a bar. Standard rooms are 20 square metres in size, and special Business Plus and Family Rooms are also available. The hotel’s public areas are characterised by natural materials, an open plan design and comfortable corners to sit in. A fireplace and real plants lend the lobby a particular flair as well as creating an inviting atmosphere. Another particular feature: Booking, stay, check-in, check-out and payment is digitized via the hotelbird app. The smartphone serves as reception and room key.
As far as transport links are concerned, the hotel is conveniently located right next to the main railway station and the BraWoPark shopping and business centre. Overall project development was by the Hamburg-based B&L Group. The architectural firms of Reichel+Stauth from Braunschweig and php prasch buken und partner from Hamburg are responsible for the design of the hotel.
Completion took place in November 2016, and the first IntercityHotel to feature fourth generation design, fixtures and fittings has now celebrated its formal opening ceremony. The large number of guests in attendance included the Italian designer Matteo Thun himself and Braunschweig’s mayor Annegret Ihbe. The new hotel succeeded in firing the enthusiasm of everyone present.

This is the fifth IntercityHotel to be developed in conjunction with the B&L Group, and further projects are already at the construction stage. B&L Group’s Managing Partner Thorsten Testorp stated: “We are very pleased to cooperate with Deutsche Hospitality once more. The outstanding location that this hotel enjoys adjacent to the new BraWoPark and the good transport links with the whole of the region that are available via the railway station next door are perfect prerequisites.”
