Steigenberger Inselhotel Konstanz has a new box seat New Rothaus-Biergarten offers fantastic views of Lake Constance
A cool drink and a snack accompanied by magnificent vistas out over Lake Constance and perhaps a touch of shade – what could be better when summer finally arrives? The legendary lakeside terrace at the Steigenberger Inselhotel Konstanz is gaining an addition to mark the start of the beer garden season. The Rothaus-Biergarten, which is located right on the banks of Dominican Island, is scheduled to open on 17 May 2019 following ten weeks of conversion works.
“The beer garden creates a place in which hotel guests and locals will be able to come together and enjoy one of the best views in the entire region,” stated the CEO of Steigenberger Hotels AG, Matthias Heck, in his opening speech. “This is a venue for the people of this city.”
The Steigenberger Inselhotel has been carefully renovated and modernised over the past two years. Following the completion of works to the Lake Restaurant, the Zeppelin Bar and the attic rooms, the opening of the Rothaus-Biergarten now provides a new pinnacle to the process.
“The Inselhotel and the island deliver a great deal of added value for the area,” said Christian Rasch, the sole director of the brewery Rothaus AG. A long-cherished wish of the brewery is now being fulfilled. The Rothaus-Biergarten on the island will be open to all and will be run in accordance with Steigenberger’s excellent standards.
The fact that we are able to open the beer garden today is down to our partners, the city and the community,” added Peter Martin, General Manager of the Steigenberger Inselhotel. Everyone has contributed to making this great location available to all of our guests.”
Regional and free of plastic
The beer garden will serve all the Rothaus beer varieties in addition to a small and select range of hot and cold dishes. Almost all of the ingredients for these will be sourced from the region exclusively. The Rothaus-Biergarten has been designed to be environmentally friendly, free of plastic and accessible. The sun shades incorporate the very latest LED technology, which also ensures that no gnats and mosquitoes are attracted. The beer garden is open daily from 11:30 am (weather permitting). Reservations are not necessary and not taken. Sufficient bicycle parking facilities are in place.
The Steigenberger Inselhotel is set within the walls of a former Dominican monastery located on a small island facing the old quarter of the city of Konstanz. It is the flagship of the Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts brand and today houses 102 guest rooms and suites. Two restaurants, a bar and a lakeside terrace can be used by guests, visitors and local residents alike.
The internationally renowned “1000 Places to see before you die” lists the Steigenberger Inselhotel as one of southern Germany’s “must have seen” sights.
